Jurema Preta

Jurema Preta’s main active ingredient is N, N-DMT, with a trace amount of β-carbolines. 5-MeO-DMT is also mentioned in some publications. This root bark is also known by the more recent scientific name mimosa tenuiflora, however the term mimosa hostilis is still used rather frequently. The same products are marketed under both names.

Mimosa Hostilis in ayahuasca

Ayahuasca, a hallucinogenic Amazonian beverage, is commonly made by combining Mimosa hostilis (or Mimosa tenuiflora) with herbs that block MAO, like Banisteriopsis caapi.

When combined with Peganum harmala, the resulting beverage is known as anahuaca, a hallucinogenic analogue of ayahuasca that has effects that are very similar to those of ayahuasca.

Psychonauts love the substance, and reports of using it include some rather powerful trips. Ayahuasca trips are sometimes compared to strong doses of psilocybin mushrooms, which cause a significant shift in the environment.
